European Eel Interpretation Board

European Eel Interpretation Board – with 50 Fun Facts on the Reverse

Discover the extraordinary life of the European eel with this beautiful double-sided A3 board from the Somerset Eel Recovery Project.

On the front, follow the eel's epic journey from the mysterious Sargasso Sea to the rivers and rhynes of the Somerset Levels and back again. Clear illustrations show every stage of the life cycle, from egg and see-through larva to glass eel, elver, yellow eel and silver eel. A world map traces the 5,000 km migration, and short, readable panels explain why eels matter and why they need our help.

Turn it over for 50 fun facts about eels, grouped into five themes: their mystery birthplace, the great journey home, their amazing bodies, eels through history, and how we can help. Did you know that people once paid their rent in eels?

Perfect for classrooms, libraries, visitor centres, nature groups and curious families. There's even a "What can your family do?" section with simple ways to help eels close to home.

Every purchase supports SERP, the UK not-for-profit for the European eel, in its work to bring this critically endangered fish back to Somerset's waters.
